Omada’s Pound-for-Pound Holiday Challenge

At Omada, we believe success in our program is all about using the power of connection and community to overcome the challenges that keep us from being as healthy as we’d like to be. Those challenges come in many forms -- from inflexible schedules and the inaccessibility of healthy foods to self-defeating habits ingrained over the course of a lifetime.

But those challenges aren’t destiny -- they can be overcome with the right knowledge, the right nudges, and the right support from a dedicated coach and community. Through personal attention from Omada coaches, support from peer groups, and connection to the right information and motivation, Omada participants across the country have taken control of their health and improved their lives.

We also know that one of the most difficult times of the year for our participants are the holidays. Routine-disrupting travel coupled with a series of celebrations centered around food and drink make it difficult to stay on track, and continue -- or even maintain -- progress achieved in the preceding months. Our data backs up what many of our participants tell our coaches: that sometimes, it feels nearly impossible to keep on track with nutritious eating, exercise routines, and healthy habits in the time between Thanksgiving and the New Year.

So this year, we’re launching an initiative aimed at delivering a little extra motivation for participants, while simultaneously helping a different group of people overcome their own challenges.

While many participants in Omada struggle with eating too much over the holidays, many others struggle with not having enough to put on their tables. Embracing our own sense of community, Omada is announcing the Pound for Pound Holiday Challenge. For every pound lost by Omada participants in the month of December, our company is donating one pound of food to a family in need. To do this, Omada is partnering with the leading national hunger non-profit to ensure that our contribution is distributed to food banks all around the country. For one month, the success of our participants will be directly connected to delivering help for those in need.  

We’ll be keeping a running tally of total pounds lost, displaying it proudly at our headquarters, and updating our participants throughout the month. At the beginning of January, we will announce exactly how much our participants’ commitment to their goals has translated into our support for communities in need.

This December, we’re proud to remind our participants that by treating themselves well, they can have an impact even beyond their own health.
